Dayton Bar Could Soon Run Dry

DAYTON, Ohio -- The Northtown Sports Bar and Grill located at 4256 N Main St. may soon lose part of its name and its business.

In a letter to the establishment, Ohio Liquor Control has refused to renew the bar's liquor license.  Employees are now concerned about their jobs, saying the refusal will ruin the bar's business.

The rejection came in part because of the objections from Harrison Twp. Trustees and the Montgomery County Prosecutors office to the license's renewal.

In the letter, officials cite 74 police calls to the business between April 2007 and April 2008.  They say the bar is a gang hangout and is hazardous to neighbors.

Employees say the police calls are mostly from incidents outside stemming from a now-closed club across the street.

The bar's owner plans to appeal the decision, said one worker.
