Lottery Looks At Vendor Change

CLEVELAND (AP) -- The director of the Ohio Lottery says its decided to replace the vendor that has operated the state's gaming system since 1985.    

Intralot is to replace Gtech Corporation on July 1st, 2009.    

The Ohio Lottery has projected it will save about 200 million dollars under the new contract -- compared to the terms of Gtech's current contract.    

The two-year Intralot contract can be renewed for up to 10 years and has an estimated worth of 170 million dollars over the total span. It will go before the state controlling board on June 2nd for final approval.    

Intralot is based in Athens, Greece, with U.S. headquarters is in Atlanta. The three major lottery system vendors with U.S. operations -- Intralot, Gtech and Scientific Games International -- bid on the Ohio contract.
