Jesse Jackson Visits Lima
02/11/2008 14:46:39
LIMA, Ohio -- Jesse Jackson says his visit to Lima today goes
beyond last month's police shooting of a woman and her
year-old son.
At the city's high school, the civil rights leader didn't
specifically mention the SWAT team raid that left 26-year-old
Tarika Wilson dead and her son wounded. Instead, Jackson said
students should improve their interactions with people of other
races and backgrounds.
He pointed to Barack Obama as a model, saying the Democratic
presidential hopeful has learned to talk with people.
Jackson has called for the indictment of the veteran police
officer who fired the fatal shot. But his appearances today were
more restrained.
Before going to the school, Jackson met privately with about 40
church pastors.
