05/12/2008 15:25:39

BOSTON, Massachusetts (AP) -- Elections officials from Ohio and California have been honored at the John F. Kennedy Library in Boston for their efforts to maintain the integrity of the vote in their respective states.

California Secretary of State Debra Bowen and Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner were presented with Profile in Courage Awards today. The annual honors are named for a 1957 Pulitzer Prize-winning book authored by John F. Kennedy.

Bowen and Brunner challenged the reliability of electronic voting systems. The awards are administered by the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation, headed by the former president's daughter, Caroline Kennedy.
